I love that! A hypnosis tour guide is a great way to think of it. The present issue was the tip of the iceberg. Iโ€™m glad Deb got me to dig deeper. Thank you for your wisdom, Patricia!

I absolutely loved reading this blog post about hypnosis! It's wonderful to hear about your positive experience with hypnosis and how it helped you with your issue of sleepiness while driving. I couldn't help but think of "Hyprov" and the many positive "Hyprov reviews" when reading your account. Thanks for sharing your journey, and I'm sure your experience will inspire others to explore the benefits of hypnosis and consider exploring "Hyprov" and reading Hyprov review at https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/15/theater/hyprov-comedy.html as part of their own personal growth journey! ๐ŸŒŸโœจ

Lisandra, I am honored you loved reading about this experience! It allowed me to come back and read it again and I still stand by what I wrote! I am happy to report that driving is still a positive thing for me since the hypnosis. I will check out hyprov! Thank you for coming to share your thoughts.

Absolutely love hypnosis. Life changing. I have super comfortable "ear pods" that are in a headband (rechargeable and bluetooth w/ 8+ hour charge) that I wear to bed every night for listening to hypnosis recordings for health and wellbeing. I gave up meditation and enjoy hypnosis all night long and often for 10 minutes after rising in the morning in my sauna blanket and/or 10 minutes when napping on a red light therapy pad in the late afternoon before preparing dinner. No more rollercoaster emotions. Moments of angst dissipate quickly--yes, in moments. When people talk about adopting new behaviors or abandoning behaviors that don't serve them taking 28 days, 90 days or more, I know these limitations are only beliefs. I give myself a day to adopt positive habits and/or to abandon negative behaviors. The key is to break things into small incremental doable steps toward your desired goal. Along the way, sooner than you ever imagined, you will look in the rearview mirror and realize you have been living with your desired goal solidly anchored in who you are.

Eleanor, thank you for reading and commenting on my post! You are the first person to tell me that you listen to your hypnosis recordings instead of meditate and I think this is a fascinating idea! I love it because we are telling ourselves what our subconscious truly believes and we can find peace and confidence that we are reminding ourselves what we truly know we believe. โ€œThese limitations are only beliefsโ€ and instead with hypnosis you can โ€œrealize you have been living with your desired goal solidly anchored in who you are.โ€

My sincerest gratitude! As a hypnotist (and former president of the now-defunct International Society for Professional Hypnosis), I am always delighted by intelligent articles about hypnosis.

One key element invariably arises: that no one can be hypnotized to do something he/she/they doesn't/don't want to do. This is why the response to suggestions about smoking cessation and weight loss are far less likely to succeed than suggestions about recovering more quickly from surgery or handling the pressures of driving.

I should append that the sister-discipline, hyperempiria, has been shown to enhance creativity. However, I found in my practice that some excellent hypnotic subjects did not respond particularly well to hyperempiric suggestions, while some rather mediocre hypnotic subjects fared far better with the alternative technique.

Again, thank you very much for sharing this piece!

Thank you for reading, Lenny! I agree on the key element and I think it's such a common myth I wanted to clarify for anyone interested when reading. I did hear from someone that it did not work for smoking! It's interesting, it's what your subconscious truly believes, I guess? I will look into hyperempiria!

I gave up on smokers long ago. Yes, I had some success, but they were all people who were ready to quit and simply needed to be convinced that they could. Most smokers merely want a "magic wand" solution -- i.e., some hypnosis (or voodoo?) that will enable them to smoke without suffering any of the consequences.

As for hyperempiria: the state was "discovered" by Don Gibbons, Ph.D., who later wrote the authoritative source, APPLIED HYPNOSIS AND HYPEREMPIRIA. He's in his mid-80s but still alive and occasionally blogging (http://hyperempiria.blogspot.com/). If you have further questions, by all means feel free to contact me directly/privately.

Cool! I totally want to try hypnosis for my laundry list of issues. Now you've given me the courage. Thanks for another excellent and inspiring post, Stephanie. And P.S.โ€”I went back to in-person yoga twice. The class is very small, only 4-6 students at a time, and all the doors are kept open, so the Covid risk feels low. At least that's what I'm telling myself. My body is very grateful that I'm back at it. Appreciate your post giving me the nudge I needed.

Yes, that's awesome. Just go with an open mind! I am so so happy you started going to yoga and found one that is right for you and your comfort level. If you're not feeling safe then it defeats the whole purpose of yoga! Thank you for your kind words and I'm excited I gave you some good nudges!

Thank you for including my thoughts in your stack. I thoroughly enjoy being a hypnotherapist and helping people lice better lives.

The issue is never the presenting issues. I had a client to during our sessions, realize that her smoking addiction in her 40s was due to the fact that her mother gave her a smoke when she was 15 and continued to give her cigarettes to keep her busy or reward her. She started to attribute smoking with her motherโ€™s love.

The habit, belief, identity or issue that presents is rarely the full story.

We like to say that all Hipnosis is self hypnosis; the client is really doing the work themselves, but at a higher level of mind that we called the super conscious mind. Iโ€™m not really doing the work, however, I know how to talk and God, youโ€™re super conscious mind to help it do the work for you, if you allow.

I like to say that I am a hypnotic tour guide who takes you to the places that you need to go to do the work you need to do.

I am glad to hear you are able to overcome the driving issue. ๐Ÿ™
