I loved this post, for so many reasons. I long for a full house like this. Your menagerie sounds wonderful! At some point soon I really want to get a dog (and a cat too, but we need to start small). The story about your dad reminded me of my own home life too growing up with my dad. Thank you for sharing. It's hard to voice the less flattering portraits of our parents, but we all have them and they're nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to share my own.
Hi Marie, awww, some day, you too can have the chaos, haha! I am finding as I have more of these conversations with people and sharing some written work about our relationships with our parents, that a lot of us have pasts that we are still feeling today. When you're ready to write about your story, I'm here to read it.
Thank you for your words. I'm so glad you listened! I have so much fun doing the audio part of it. There's a part of me that wants to try out video. Who knows, I smell it in the future.
Aww. Such a beautiful piece, Stephanie. Loved reading about your "full house," and seeing photos of your adorable pets. Thank you for including me and Noodle (!) and for these very valuable insights on staving off loneliness. So so helpful. Sending wee Stephanie and grown-up Stephanie a big hug. Noodle and I are honored to be mentioned in your work.
Hilary, what you wrote is so true. Thank you for your great wisdom. And it's pretty amazing we get to be part of our pets' lives even though it's way too short! As for the hug, I'll take it. I stirred something up re-living those scenarios in my childhood bedroom. Getting it out there is sort of healing though. It's a process!
This was an enjoyable post to read and listen to Stephanie <3 I love the pictures of Mickey + Maeve and the picture of Nala with her head down! haha so sweet. Pets can truly teach us so much. I have two cats, and they often help me become present, playful, peaceful, centered, curious, etc. The list goes on. I'm still waiting for the day they cuddle like your two cats!
Thanks to you, I had the courage to do voiceovers! It’s so funny because I used to not like cats until my daughter convinced me to get them and now I’m obsessed with cats!
We had a miniature Daschund who at 14, would be puppyish as sion as it was spring enough to go outside, nosing around in the grass and chasing anything that dare move in his domain.
We had to say our goodbyes in June 2020 because of a tumour on his kidney.

I loved the story about your dad and the shrine under your bed. You are a talented writer and have a fantastic fun, comedic voice! ❤️

Dogs really are zen incarnate, aren’t they?

He really did have the best life.
