Stephanie Martinez + teen mom

Steph and Vanessa became moms in their 30s, well into adulthood, and that shit was hard enough. What is it like to be a mom as a teenager?

Stephanie Martinez shares her story about being pregnant her senior year of high school, in 2000. She reveals how her parents reacted to the news, how she fought for her sense of normalcy to finish out her high school career, and what it was like to raise her son largely without the father.

She has special words for teen moms who might feel scared or lost. She also gives guidance on how parents of teens going through pregnancy can support their children.

Fun fact: Stephanie has always been a sweet and loved person by many. Proof: she was voted by her classmates as queen of winter formal court, 5 months pregnant!
